I am very anxious about climate change along many dimensions, and am happy to err on the side of caution, but I will say that I think some outlets (e.g. the Guardian) have been a bit eager to ring the "immediate doom" bell for clicks, at least on this particular issue.

This is a very timely paper. Thank you. I have noticed the acceleration from the second IPCC report to the sixth. It seems that the low to medium confidence estimates of 2000 are already in the rear view mirror (1.5 C by 2050 for example). I hope the funding withdrawn by the US from IPCC will not slow continued research into AMOC.
